Joanna is a Peer Bridger and artist working in the Hudson Valley, currently residing in Hopewell Junction. She started painting in summer 2019 as a fun hobby, but also to keep her hands busy so she didn’t eat mindlessly. She discovered that she really enjoyed painting, especially pour painting which gave her the freedom of not knowing exactly what was going to happen when the paint hit the canvas. She has primarily focused on abstract forms. As someone with a history of depression, anxiety, and obsessive thoughts, the process of painting has become a place of sanctuary for her.
Joanna had been aware of NAMI for many years, but when heard that her friend Peg was going to be a model in the Off The Mask fashion show, she decided it was a perfect opportunity to share her artwork and help raise money for a good cause.
